I'll be honest, my mind quickly jumps to the idea of regret when I think of aging. I guess this is still the way my mind is internally communicating.
According to gerontologists, "successful aging" is used to mean having a good life in old age.
Now that I'm clear to define what having a good life is, I'm pretty excited for the future...
What would a good life be for you? Spending time with family and friends, travelling the world, playing with your grandchildren
What would you need to be able to accomplish those things? According to the article, you don't even need to be successful to age successfully! I believe it really comes down to happiness, and for me, sound body and mind.
This is generally one of the biggest concerns for patients I see in the office. They're starting to get older and they feel like their finally starting to "feel their age" AND they're not happy about it!
Being stuck with limited brain and nervous system function for a long period of time can do that do you, both physically and emotionally. The great news is that clearing the "stuck" and becoming adaptable can make a world of difference in how you age both physically and emotionally.
So, the question then becomes, how will you age successfully? Are your body and mind ready for it? Is there anything I can do to help?
