The term subluxation has been around for "forever" when it comes to chiropractic. It's really just a word that confuses so many people. So what is it really? It's just a fancy word for any interference, whether it's actual pressure, torquing, or scar tissue that is limiting the brain and nervous systems ability to send messages back and forth properly.
In the last post we discussed the brain stem and it's protector, the atlas. When the atlas misaligns, it can cause pressure on the brain stem which then limits the body's ability to send proper messages back and forth. It has even been found that pressure just the weight of a quarter can limit transmission in the nervous system up to 60%!
So what causes subluxation? It's really simple, the 3 T's: thoughts, traumas, and toxins. Also known as emotional stress, physical stress, and chemical stress. We'll discuss these over the next three posts.
