In the US, according to many different statistics, anywhere from 1 in 4 to 1 in 8 couples has an infertility problem. This can be due to female factors, male factors, a combination of causes, and unexplained. In my research many couples end up in the world of expensive allopathic fertility treatments that can range from $800 to upwards of $10,000 not including the cost of egg/sperm donors or medication. These couples, on average, go through between 4-5 cycles of treatment and on one message board I even read about someone on their 15th attempt.
In chiropractic, infertility is the symptom (not a disease) of a lack of proper communication between the brain and the body’s reproductive organs limiting the body from creating new life, or even carrying a baby to full term. The nervous system is responsible for making sure that your endocrine system (your hormones) and your reproductive system (your baby-making parts) are working in sync with each other. If there is a mishap in the messaging system, there may be trouble getting pregnant or being able to carry a baby to full term.
How many couples do you think have looked into this option?
A study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research looked at the effectiveness of chiropractic for infertility. It followed 15 women who ranged in age from 22-65 with a history of infertility. 14 of the 15 subjects became pregnant within 2-20 months of starting chiropractic care. The 65-year-old did not get pregnant, but after a lifetime with no menstrual periods, she began menstruating 4 weeks after beginning chiropractic care. The study goes on to say that while not conclusive, the results are definitely compelling enough to warrant further research.
Now, as I move forward with this conversation, I want to make clear that chiropractic and having proper brain body communication and adaptation are not a treatment or cure for infertility, but rather a way to restore the body’s natural design to be able to create, sustain, and nourish new life.
